32nd Annual Amos-Vale Hereford Bull Sale

As one of the Northern Tablelands oldest Hereford Studs, we have confirmed our status as a breeder of consistent genetics. The Amos-Vale Stud, situated 40km south-east of Glen Innes,  continues to be an ideal source for eastern fall cattlemen to procure replacement sires with a constitution and ability to perform in variable breeding conditions.

Our 32nd sale topped at $14,000. Leading the stud's high average were four AI sons of Cootharaba Jensen, a bull who had a terrific influence in the Amos-Vale herd. Four sons averaged $9750 and the two high price bulls are headed to Sam and Erica Ulrick’s “Springfield” Guyra. Breeding from a Hereford herd recognised for consistent lines of well performed progeny, the Ulricks were quick to procure their pick of the top bulls noting the confirmation, structure and eye pigmentation suited their needs and the past performance made for an easy decision.

Thirty registered buyers ensured that the bulls on offer were sold quickly to mainly longstanding clients at Amos-Vale. The Green family of Walcha were volume buyers, procuring five bulls across four properties and continue to be satisfied with the performance delivered by Amos-Vale sires.

Repeat buyers also included Jolly Coward “Wirrialpa” Hernani paying $7000 for a Cootharaba Halliburton sired bull. Michael Moorhead and families Baryugil Pastoral Co purchased two bulls, including a son of Talbalba Wallop also to $7000. Bernie Grogan, Tenterfield paid to $8000 for two bulls, one a Jensen son, for their quality Hereford herd at Tenterfield. Long-time supporters also procuring sires were the Heagney families of Tubbamurra and Jim and Dianne Freeman “Shady Acres” Tyringham.

Vendors Mark and Wendy Campion and Noel and Marie Campion were very pleased with the support afforded their annual sale and thanked all buyers, underbidders and newcomers to their Hereford sale conducted in wintery conditions on property. Selling agents were Colin Say & Co Pty Ltd Glen Innes and Armitage & Buckley Armidale. In summary, 25 of the 28 bulls offered averaged $5979 with the passed in lots quickly sold post sale.
